Shalom World’s Prison Tablets initiative provides Catholic faith content to incarcerated men and women through secure, prison-approved tablet platforms. In partnership with prison chaplains and correctional institutions, Shalom World delivers trusted Catholic programs—including prayers, Scripture reflections, Masses, and faith teachings—directly to inmates across the United States.
Using approved digital systems, this ministry ensures that Catholic content is accessible, safe, and consistent within correctional facilities. For many inmates, these programs are their primary connection to the Catholic faith during incarceration. Support for this initiative helps sustain and expand the delivery of Catholic spiritual programming to prisons nationwide.
Shalom World is an initiative of Shalom Media USA Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. EIN #30-0585506.

An inmate, ArkansasWhy this matters
Across America, more than two million people live behind bars. For many, prison is a place of darkness, loneliness, and regret — where they feel forgotten by the world beyond the walls.
Yet even there, Christ’s light still shines.
Through Shalom World, inmates watch inspiring testimonies, faith teachings, and music — all through secure prison tablets.
In a digital world filled with noise, Shalom World is one of the few Catholic voices that brings hope, prayer, and truth to incarcerated souls.
Why support is needed now
Beginning this year, subscription and publishing fees for keeping our content on prison tablet platforms have risen sharply. Without your help, inmates could lose access to Shalom World’s programs — their only source of spiritual nourishment behind bars.
This Lent, help us keep Christ’s message alive behind prison walls.
When the world forgets them,
your gift reminds them that God hasn’t.
Where your gift goes
Your generosity directly supports the delivery of Catholic content to incarcerated men and women.
The impact you make
You can’t go inside a prison but your gift can. Be the light that reaches beyond the bars.
Every year, we receive hundreds of letters from inmates across the United States, sharing how Shalom World’s programs have brought them peace, healing, and a renewed relationship with God.

Through our content on prison tablets, thousands of incarcerated men and women have reconnected with God. Many testify to newfound faith, conversions, and renewed prayer lives after watching Shalom World.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What is Catholic prison ministry?
Catholic prison ministry brings the presence of Christ to men and women behind bars through prayer, Scripture, the Sacraments, and faith formation. It reminds incarcerated individuals that they are not forgotten by God and that redemption, healing, and new life are always possible through Jesus Christ.
-
How does Shalom World reach inmates inside prisons?
Shalom World partners with approved prison tablet platforms and works closely with chaplains and prison administrators to deliver trusted Catholic content. Through secure tablets, inmates can watch faith programs, pray along with devotions, participate in Masses, and receive encouragement rooted in the teachings of the Church.
-
What kind of content do inmates receive on prison tablets?
Inmates have access to Catholic programs that include Scripture reflections, testimonies, worship music, teachings, prayers, and faith-based encouragement. This content helps them grow spiritually, rediscover hope, and build a deeper relationship with God—even in the midst of confinement.
-
Are prison tablets secure and approved by authorities?
Yes. All content is delivered through secure, prison-approved platforms used across correctional facilities in the United States. Shalom World works only within systems authorized by prison administrations, ensuring that all programs meet safety, security, and institutional guidelines.
-
Why is support for this ministry needed right now?
Rising costs for prison tablet platforms and content distribution mean that Catholic programming is at risk of being reduced or removed. For many inmates, Shalom World is their only source of Catholic spiritual nourishment. Your support today helps ensure this lifeline of faith continues, especially during this sacred Lenten season.
-
Where does my donation show real impact?
Your gift directly supports the creation, distribution, and continued availability of Catholic content on prison tablets. This includes platform access, content publishing fees, and program expansion—allowing Christ’s message of mercy, hope, and healing to reach inmates in more than 1,600 facilities nationwide.
-
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Shalom World is a registered nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. After giving, you will receive a receipt for your records and tax purposes.
-
Can parishes, families, or groups support this ministry together?
Yes. Parishes, prayer groups, families, and communities are encouraged to support this mission together. Collective generosity allows more inmates to encounter Christ and experience spiritual renewal—turning places of isolation into spaces of prayer, reflection, and hope.
-
Can my gift be matched by my employer?
Many companies match charitable donations made by their employees. Check with your HR department — your gift to the Prison Tablet Mission could be doubled at no extra cost to you.
-
Can I give through a Donor-Advised Fund or donate stock?
Yes. You can recommend a grant through your Donor-Advised Fund (such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or Vanguard Charitable) or donate appreciated stock — a tax-efficient way to maximize your impact.
-
What happens to my existing “Sponsor a Prison” (SAP) donations?
Your contributions to Sponsor a Prison (SAP) continue to serve inmates faithfully. There are still correctional facilities where tablets are not available, and some tablet systems do not support magazine-format uploads. In these facilities, we continue sending physical copies of Shalom Tidings.
SAP remains essential for reaching prisons that cannot yet access digital content. At the same time, the Prison Tablet Mission allows us to reach even more inmates where tablets are available.
We encourage you to continue supporting SAP while also prayerfully considering this new, more scalable initiative to expand authentic Catholic content on prison tablets.
